This was a lot of fun! I ended up with "The Wonderful World of Roaming Secrets." Did some free writing from the tour guide perspective. Now I'm looking forward to rewriting from a different perspective.

I also went with Yellowjackets since thst's what I've been watching, and the only word we had in common was trauma... But that's the one I ended up going with for the exercise! I think it's feeling more like a hotel than an amusement park though...

This was so much fun! I've never done an exercise like this before. I've already written my first piece, and I'll let it sit for a day before coming back to it. It's called "Welcome to the Wonderful World of Neck Bites". When thinking of a show I liked, I couldn't help but think of The Vampire Diaries.

We LOVE this exercise too (Kayla has the best prompts)! Some excellent expectations set up in your theme park name, too...

Brilliant exercise. Just finished my second iteration (you're right! So smart to restart!). Gonna let it marinate a day and revise "Welcome to the World of Black Studded Fingerless Gloves" and post here ASAP. Spoooooky fun!

[I took the "show" prompt and explored the underground death-metal shows sprinkled through American under-the-table economies. Here're the first few lines ...]

Welcome to the World of Black Studded Fingerless Gloves.

Entrance fee: railroad spike through the hand.

This warning, Rule 1, howled in the website’s hero box, a site he’d dredged up from the darkweb sewers among hitman-for-hire boards and animal debauchery SharePoint folders.

Boris had steeled himself for the waiver-by-impalement, a splatter of skin and bone to X the dotted line. He’d also championed through self-cauterization. What he hadn’t accounted for was just how fuckin deep Basement 13 sank. There was no way he was climbing back outta this bastard. His kidney had reached failure territory the day before.

He had weeks to live, and he intended to. But would they sense the Stage 4 in his veins? Would they spit him out like spoiled durian?

At the bottom, drenched in pitch black, he blind-man palmed the stairwell and found it dead-ended on a door. He shouldered through to a room glowing green. At one end, the stage. A Livvie bobbed black locks and clawed G-major on a crypt-green guitar. Stage scrims, in tortured metal-thorn script, announced Casket Case.

He’d arrived. Reanimation, Immortality, Necro-Romancing, the website had advertised. Was it all true? It’d only cost his soul.
