P.S. Not sure if this counts, but one of my favorite ways to engage with my literary mind is by taking notes from artists of other mediums and applying them to writing. I love Carolyn Yoo’s ‘See Yoo’ newsletter. She embodies creativity to me and makes me want to write even though she’s a visual artist. She strikes that creative match for me without the comparison factor that comes into play when I’m considering literary concepts in literary avenues. She makes me feel playful. She makes creativity fun!
These are so cool! Thanks for sharing :-) I, of course, love Kailey’s newsletter entailing her novel writing/publishing experience in a fun, diary sort of form alongside nostalgic personal essays. She’s my fav! The newsletter is called In the Weeds.
I'll shamelessly plug my own, where I post book reviews (currently reading through Substack novels!) and short fiction. I love The Metropolitan Review, The Republic of Letters, wayback machine, and Literary Saloon.
It's a joy to read — and to learn more about the poems and the history too. Such a fascinating project. Thanks for all the time and thought you put into it!
Thank you so much Jo for sharing my story 'You are a wolf'. It was a labour of love to wrangle Substack into working like a 'choose your own adventure' story (and highlighted a few bugs in the app!) but so much fun once I got it working.
I love Courtney Maum's substack, Before and After the Book Deal. She shares personal insights and she's generous with information and advice.
Story Club from George Saunders has consistently good insights on writing and writer mindsets, and the comments from fellow writers are often stellar.

Thank you for the mention, Jo, and I'm glad you are enjoying my work!

You're so welcome! And so glad I came across it. :)
